So, I brought Addy with me to my friend's, where I spent last night. And I normally carry her in my arms, but I was carrying stuff, so I couldn't. So she rode in the back pocket of the rolling backpack.

Yes. Those are Addy's shoes. Addy's very scratched up shoes. Apparantly, the back of the bag scraped the cement ground, and took it out on her shoes. Which made me cry. >< If it had been a little scratch, I would have held off until I had more money or something. NOT a little scratch.
The soles. Yeah. ALL the way to the soles with the rubbing.
The right shoe didn't take the brunt of the damage, though it looks like it did. It's scraped, but not as bad as...
...the left one. It looks fine on the surface--as fine as a ruined shoe can...and then....
THIS. In case you cannot tell, that is my FINGER NAIL sticking out of a HOLE in her SHOE. Oh. My. Goddess.
So that's 12 bucks I had, and now don't have, because I had to order replacement shoes.

I'm sorry. [img]frown.gif[/img] I know how the student loan thing is. I've been there myself. I also understand how much you love your Addy. Mine is the only pre-Mattel doll I have left, and she is my favorite doll. I'm glad you were able to find the money for the shoes, and that Addy's feet were not damaged. [img]graemlins/rose.gif[/img]

Sorry about the shoes. I know that every penny counts, but after reading your Addy story, I know spoiling her is worth it for you!

You got an audible gasp from me when I saw the pics. That's too bad.
However, at least it wasn't her toes that were rubbed down. . . .
Actually, I think the shoes look a little bit cool and authentic, because if she was wearing hand me down clothing while on the run from the plantation to the North, her shoes were probably not brand spanking new. Imagine hiking through woods, creeks, brush and mud for miles! Her shoes probably looked exactly like that at the end of her journey. I would keep them to use with her meet outfit or her work outfit.
I am so sorry this happened, but I agree with the others in that it is good thing it was not her feet!
